Whitehouse Farm Centre, Northumberland’s largest family-run farm attraction, has been providing interaction, education, and fun since 1997. Spread over 40 acres just south of Morpeth and a mile from the A1, it offers something for everyone. Visitors can see, handle, and feed a wide variety of animals, from traditional breeds to more unusual and exotic species. Daily experiences include small animal handling in the petting barn, Critter Encounters, interactive Meerkat talks, grooming goats and ponies, and seasonal bottle feeding of lambs and calves. Tractor rides with a modern. Indoor and outdoor play areas cater to all ages, featuring the brand-new Farmer's Den soft play with toddler. Feeding the Animals: At Whitehouse Farm Centre, everyone has the opportunity to interact with and feed some of the animals. In addition to handling the animals, visitors can feed some of the animals.
- Bottle Feed Lambs: This seasonal activity is available from late February until early June. Bottle feed the new lambs each day at 11.15am and 3.30pm.
- Bottle Feed Calves: This seasonal activity takes place during July and August. Bottle feed the new calves. Calves are only bottle fed when mum requires extra assistance. Currently, there are no bottle-fed calves, but they can be seen during the tractor ride.
Animal Handling:
- Small Animal Handling: Visit the petting barn between 10am and 4pm every day for cuddles with furry friends. Animals may include rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, mice, skinny pigs, and chicks (seasonal).
- Critter Encounters: Critter Encounters are run every day at 11am and 2pm.
- Interactive Meerkat Talk and Feed: Join staff for an Interactive Meerkat Experience every day at 12.15pm and 3pm.
- Groom a Goat/Pony: Try grooming a goat or pony at 12.45pm every day.
Tractor Rides: Part of a day out at Whitehouse Farm includes tractor rides. The little red tractor, Trevor, has a modern trailer that is accessible for all. It includes a ramp, space for two wheelchairs, a roof canopy, and heavy-duty waterproof sides that can be rolled down in case of bad weather.
Indoor Play Areas
- Farmer's Den Soft Play: The brand new soft play area is officially open. A significant investment extended the previous building, adding a modern, all-weather indoor play area. Toddler area (1-3 years) and baby area (under 12 months). Roleplay area including a builder’s yard, a vet, and a shop (still under construction)
- Hoglets Adventure Playground: Includes a dedicated play area for younger children.
- Castle Catapult: A large toboggan slide. Fly down at no additional charge every day (weather dependent).
- Jumping Pillows: Two pillow sizes are available for children of all ages to jump, bounce, and have fun.
- Indoor Racing Cars: Indoor electric racing cars for children and adults. Coin operated: £1 per ride.
Outdoor Play
- Adventure Playground: Currently closed for refurbishment. Located near the Farmer's Den Soft Play, this playground includes slides, tunnels, and climbing frames.
- Trampolines: Outdoor trampolines for all ages to jump and show off moves.
- Pedal Go-Karts: Ages 5 to 95 can enjoy a lap on the track.
- Pedal Tractors: Massey Ferguson Pedal Tractors, suitable for children up to 6 years old.
