Description

Northumberlandia is home to the world’s largest human landform sculpture, shaped as a reclining lady and designed by renowned artist Charles Jencks. Located near Cramlington, it is set within a 46-acre community park offering open space, walking trails, and panoramic countryside views. It is a unique outdoor attraction combining art, nature, and community access.

Visitors can explore 4 miles of footpaths on and around the landform, enjoy wildlife watching, and take part in a packed programme of events throughout the year. Activities include wildlife activities for children, craft markets, and outdoor theatre productions by the Handlebards. The site also features a Visitor Centre and Café serving hot drinks and snacks, merchandise and visitor information, accessible toilets (open when the café is open), and ample onsite parking.

Entry to the site is Free, with a suggested £2 donation for car parking to help with upkeep of the site and facilities.

  • Northumberlandia is a unique piece of public art set in a 46 acre community park with free public access and 4 miles of footpaths on and around the landform. The Visitor Centre and Café is on the right as you enter the site through the main entrance gates at Northumberlandia. 
  • It offers a range of hot drinks and snacks, a selection of NWT branded and wildlife related merchandise, as well as Trust and general visitor information. There is seating inside and further seating is available (weather permitting) on a raised terrace outside the centre with views of the bird feeding stations. 
  • Northumberlandia runs a packed programme of activities and events throughout the year including wildlife activities for children, craft markets and our popular outdoor theatre production by the Handlebards. Click here for specific information on events running at Northumberlandia.

Facilities

  • Parking: There is ample parking available on site. There is no entry charge to visit but we request a donation for car parking to help with upkeep of the site and facilities (suggested donation £2). 
  • Food & Drinks: Cafe available. 
  • Toilets: The two accessible toilets to the rear of the Centre are only open when the café is open.

The site is open from dawn until dusk daily.
The café and toilets are open daily from 10:00 until 16:00. Please note that hot food stops at 15:15.

The following buses run every 10-15 minutes and stop at the Beacon Hill Fisher Lane roundabout. There is a gate with a path leading directly to the main site (approximately 10 mins on foot).
