The Bowness on Windermere Treasure Trail is a fun self-guided treasure hunt adventure set in the beautiful Lake District town of Bowness-on-Windermere. Perfect for families, friends and explorers aged 6 to 106, the trail combines sightseeing with puzzle-solving challenges. It’s an exciting way to explore the area while searching for hidden treasure.
This 2-mile circular trail takes around 2+ hours to complete at your own pace and leads you through the bustling town centre, scenic lakeside and peaceful woodland paths. During the adventure, you’ll follow clues from the notebook of famous explorer Nessie-Bo to track down the cursed Mystical Gemstone of Bownessia. Your mission is to find the gem’s hidden location and close a mysterious ghostly portal that has been causing chaos around the town. A helpful text message hint service is available if you get stuck along the way.
The Treasure Trail costs £9.99 per Trail, which covers the whole group playing together. The same Trail can also be used for birthday parties, working best in small teams of around 4–5 people, with adult support recommended for younger children.
Whether you’re visiting the Lake District or exploring somewhere new, The Bowness on Windermere Treasure Trail offers a fun and interactive outdoor experience. With teamwork, mystery and beautiful lakeside scenery, it’s a memorable way to discover Bowness while solving an exciting treasure hunt.
