  • The Castle: The Pennington Family welcomes you to their family home. Muncaster Castle isn’t just a historic site - it’s a lived-in family home, occupied by the Pennington family for over 800 years. As you explore the grand state rooms, including the renowned Library and the hauntingly atmospheric Tapestry Room, you’ll uncover centuries of stories woven into the fabric of this remarkable place.
  • The Gardens: The Gardens at Muncaster Castle. The visitor to Muncaster today will find 77 acres of the most tranquil historic gardens in Cumbria; with a blend of cultivated areas, lawns and woodlands together with play areas and the Enchanted Trail for our smaller visitors, there is always a quiet corner even on busier days and miles of paths and fascinating vistas to discover and explore.
  • Hawk & Owl Centre: The Hawk & Owl Centre within the gardens of Muncaster Castle delivers awe-inspiring flying displays with owls, falcons, eagles and even vultures!
  • The Weapons Hall: For more in-depth Knight Training opt for a 45minute masterclass to truly hone your skills. Sessions available at 4pm and 5pm each day
  • Play Areas: Yeti Adventure Quarry and Giant Swing. Our amazing Yeti Adventure Quarry and Giant Swing are great for adventurous kids to burn off any excess energy. The Yeti Adventure Quarry takes you high into the tree canopy, with rope ladders, a suspended net bridge and slides. While our Giant Swing sends to souring way up into the sky - enjoy the amazing views as you fly high among the trees.
  • Muncaster Parish Church: Muncaster Parish Church of St Michael and All Angels. While there are indications of there having been a place of worship on this site possibly back into pre-Christian times, there has been record of a church on this site since 1140. The current building dates from the 16th century with various later alterations, including in the late 19th century by the famous architect Anthony Salvin who also carried out the major remodelling works on the Castle for the Barons Muncaster.

  • Halloween Family Festival: 25 October – 2 November 2025. Our Muncaster Halloween Family Festival continues to evolve, and after a fang-tastic 2024, Halloween 2025 returns with even more pumpkin-fuelled fun!
  • SCARECASTER: 30 October - 1 November 2025, 8pm – Midnight. Fear returns to Muncaster with a vengeance this year at SCARECASTER - our spine-tingling event for those aged 16 and over. Building on last year's bone-chilling success, this year's festival promises to be even more terrifying.

  • By Car: Direction from the North-From Carlisle follow the A595 to Cockermouth, and continue on past Whitehaven. Alternatively take the westbound A66 from Penrith on the M6, following signs for Workington, then Whitehaven and A595 towards Barrow. This road bypasses Ravenglass and goes straight through to Muncaster. This journey should take about an hour and a half from Carlisle.
  • By Train: Northern Rail operate the Cumbrian Coast railway line connecting Ravenglass with many towns and villages of the Western Lake District with Carlisle in the north and Barrow-in-Furness in the south.
