Llangollen Railway is a standard gauge heritage railway running for 10 miles through the beautiful Dee Valley in North Wales. Starting beside the historic Dee Bridge in Llangollen, the line travels to the town of Corwen, offering stunning countryside views along the way. Operated by dedicated volunteers since 1975, it keeps the region’s railway heritage alive with restored locomotives and traditional stations. 

Visitors can enjoy heritage train travel with steam and diesel locomotives running along the full line, stopping at five stations including Berwyn, Glyndyfrdwy, Carrog and Corwen. The Berwyn Explorer offers a shorter scenic journey near the spectacular Horseshoe Falls, while special events like the Branchline Gala showcase visiting engines and exciting rail activities. Throughout the year, themed events and private hire options are available for celebrations, group tours and corporate events. 

Heritage Train Travel tickets cost £25.00 for adults and £5.00 for children (3–15), with dogs, bikes and kayaks charged at £3.00 each. The Berwyn Explorer costs £10.00 for adults and £5.00 for children. For the Branch Line Gala, a 1 Day Rover ticket is £36.00 for adults and £6.00 for children, while a 2 Day Rover costs £65.00 for adults and £10.00 for children.

Llangollen Railway is a heritage railway that runs for 10 miles through the heart of the Dee Valley, starting at Llangollen Station and travelling upstream to Corwen. Founded in 1975 by a dedicated group of volunteers, the railway has been painstakingly restored along the former Ruabon to Barmouth main line. Today, it provides a memorable experience for visitors of all ages, with historic steam and diesel locomotives, traditional stations, and a strong connection to the area's rich railway heritage.

  • Heritage Train Travel: Day-to-day services along our full 10-mile line, visiting all five stations and running with a variety of Engines and Carriages. Most midweek services will feature Heritage Railcars, while most weekends will feature at least some Steam-hauled services.
  • Berwyn Explorer: Berwyn perches on the side of a spectacular gorge with the Dee rushing beneath. Walk 10-minutes to the Horseshoe Falls and Llantysilio Church or stop for a rest at the historic Chainbridge Hotel.
  • Branchline Gala: Visiting Prairie Loco 4555 joins our home fleet for a full weekend of ups-and-downs and ins-and-outs. This year our Operations and Steam Motive departments have pulled out all the stops to create an exciting programme of engine movements that are sure to delight enthusiasts, photographers and families alike.
