Lakeland Miniature Village is a charming Lake District family attraction located near Bowness-on-Windermere. Set in the grounds of the Damson Dene Hotel, it showcases handcrafted miniature buildings inspired by Cumbria’s iconic farms and cottages. It offers visitors a unique way to explore local history in a beautifully detailed small-scale setting.

The village features several dozen buildings made from local Coniston slate, created over 25 years by local builder Edward Robinson. Miniature replicas include famous landmarks such as Beatrix Potter’s house, Hill Top, and the Bridge House in Ambleside. After exploring, visitors can enjoy lunch in the hotel bar or purchase day passes for the hotel swimming pool and leisure club.

Ticket prices are Adults £5.00, Children £3.00, Concessions £3.50, and a Family Pass £12.00 (2 adults + 2 Children). The attraction is open every day of the year from 9am – 5:30pm.

  • The Lakeland Model Village features several dozen buildings made of local Coniston slate, each lovingly constructed over the last 25 years by local builder Edward Robinson.
  • Each building has been handcrafted to replicate some of Cumbria’s most iconic farms and cottages including Beatrix Potters house, Hilltop and the Bridge House, Ambleside. 
  • Following Edward Robinson’s retirement, each building has been carefully relocated to their new home in the grounds of the Damson Dene Hotel against the stunning backdrop of the Lyth Valley, allowing visitors and families the opportunity to enjoy their history once more.
  • After visiting the Lakeland Model Village, visitors can enjoy lunch in the hotel bar or day passes are available for the hotel swimming pool and leisure club.
  • Each building has been carefully relocated to its new home in the grounds of the Damson Dene Hotel, against the stunning backdrop of the Lyth Valley.

  • We are about 15 minutes drive from Junction 36 of the M6.
  • After leaving the motorway, follow the A590 signposted to Barrow in Furness.
  • After about 5 miles, turn right onto the A5074 signposted to Bowness and Windermere.
  • Keep on that road for 5 miles (without turning into the village of Crosthwaite) and you will see Damson Dene on your right.
  • We have ample parking available.
