Enjoy hands-on farm experiences with livestock, rabbits and guinea pigs at Cuddle Corner, pony rides, sheep racing, and our adventure playground.   • Outdoor Adventures
    • Nature Trails and Walks: Visitors can enjoy a variety of beautiful walks and trails around the farm in all seasons. Trails range from 500 metres to 3 kilometres, offering something for everyone. The trails are easy to follow by simply following the coloured arrows.
    • Sheep Racing: Daily Sheep Racing takes place near the piggery and is a popular attraction with regular visitors. Guests can watch and learn about the four different breeds of sheep that race every day.
    • Piglet Racing: Daily Piglet Racing allows visitors to watch the piglets race around the track. Members of the public are invited to try pig herding on the track for a fun, hands-on experience.
    • Paddocks and Farm Animals: The farm is home to a variety of cows, sheep, pigs, and goats. These animals can be seen throughout the farm and along the trails, with goats often spotted in the gulleys.
    • Small Animal Handling: Throughout the year, there are a variety of fluffy animals for visitors to handle during Animal Handling Sessions. Rabbits, guinea pigs, chicks, and ducklings are available for supervised petting sessions held throughout the day. There is also a large display of chickens, geese, turkeys, and ducks, which enjoy being fed even if they are not handled.
    • Pony Rides: Three ponies, Ted, Elsie, and Milkshake, are available for pony rides every day. Rides can be booked in the farm shop on arrival. Children must be at least 2 years old and weigh no more than 6 stone.
    • The West Lodge Barrel Ride: The Barrel Ride offers a double circuit around the outdoor play area and passes Donald the Sleepy Dragon. The ride runs every hour and is free for all visitors, with unlimited rides permitted.
    • Adventure Golf: The 9-hole Adventure Golf course is farm-themed, featuring farm artefacts and a stream running through the centre. Suitable for all ages, from grandparents to toddlers, the activity costs £2 per person, with under 3s free.
    • Adventure Playground: The Adventure Playground, built in 2022, offers huge slides for older children, sand pits, and smaller climbing equipment for younger children. The retro 5-seater swing provides family fun for all ages.
    • Ride on Tractor Park: A safety-surfaced tractor park provides a variety of ride-on tractors for toddlers and older children, ideal for future farmers in the family.
  • Indoor Adventures
    • The Old Grain Adventure Barn: The Adventure Barn is designed around timber play inspired by childhood farm adventures. At its centre is an oak tree with bridges, tunnels, climbing walls, and slides for children to enjoy for hours. A designated fenced area provides interactive play for pre-walkers, including a “pond” with lights and a miniature climbing house with slide.

  • The centre is conveniently situated within 30 minutes of Peterborough, Northampton and Leicester. While being private and secluded, West Lodge Rural Centre is within easy reach of all major routes, being one mile from the A6, five minutes from the A14 and twenty minutes from both the A1 and M1.
  • Have ample car and coach parking within the rural centre.
  • Directions from Leicester: Take the A6 to Market Harborough and Kettering. Remain on the A6 bypass around Market Harborough (without entering Market Harborough) following signs to Kettering and Desborough A6. At the round about before Desborough take the first exit signed Desborough and West Lodge Rural Centre B669. As you enter Desborough turn left at the round about onto the B669 towards West Lodge Rural Centre and Stoke Albany. After a quarter of a mile turn right and the entrance to West lodge is a quarter of a mile further on the left.
  • Directions from the M1 North bound, Northampton, Oxford: Take junction 15 off the M1 and follow the signs for A508 Wellingborough. Exit the A508 at the A43 to Kettering slip road. Follow the A43 to Kettering. At the A14 roundabout on the outskirts of Kettering turn left onto the A14, signposted M1/M6. After approximately 2 miles turn off onto the A6 after Rothwell at Jnct 3 heading for Market Harborough and Desborough. At the second round about along the A6 turn right following brown tourist board signs to West Lodge. As you enter Desborough turn left at the round about onto the B669 towards West Lodge Rural Centre and Stoke Albany. After a quarter of a mile turn right and the entrance to West lodge is a quarter of a mile further on the left.
  • Directions from the M1 South bound: Take junction 19A and follow the A14. Travel along the A14 for approximately 16 miles and turn off on to the A6 (Desborough and Market Harborough). At the second round about along the A6 turn right following brown tourist board signs to West Lodge. As you enter Desborough turn left at the round about onto the B669 towards West Lodge Rural Centre and Stoke Albany. After a quarter of a mile turn right and the entrance to West lodge is a quarter of a mile further on the left.
  • Directions from Peterborough, Cambridge and the A1: (From Peterborough. The following directions take you on a route seven miles longer than the more direct route, but it is just as quick and much simpler. Take the A605 towards Oundle and Thrapston.) Get on to the A14 and follow the signs towards Kettering, M1 and M6. After approximately 2 miles after Kettering turn off onto the A6 after Rothwell at Jnct 3 heading for Market Harborough and Desborough. At the second round about along the A6 turn right following brown tourist board signs to West Lodge.
