The Hub at St Mary's is a vibrant heritage and arts venue located on Market Square in the heart of Lichfield. The Hub features a community coffee shop serving coffee and locally made cakes, a gallery showcasing exhibitions from diverse artists, and a heritage Treasury displaying ecclesiastical silver and historic artefacts. Visitors can explore the Tower Tour, climbing a spiral staircase to the spire viewing platform for panoramic views while learning about the church bells and local history connected to Samuel Johnson. The venue also hosts performing arts events, exhibitions, and a Little Shop supporting local artists.

Tower Tours cost £12 for adults and £8 for young people aged 10–19. Entry to the coffee shop, gallery browsing, and exhibitions may vary depending on events and scheduled programmes.

  • The Hub Treasury: Our Treasury houses a great collection of ecclesiastical and ceremonial silver that reflect 2,000 years of Lichfield history, our treasury space also accompanies exciting exhibitions scheduled at our venue. Most notably, it is here you will find the Blithfield Sallet, which is a significant and interesting object which connects Lichfield to the Wars of the Roses and the rigours of medieval warfare.
  • Tower Tours: The Tower Tour will take you up a narrow spiral staircase, and right up to through the centre of the Tower up to the Spire Viewing Platform with stunning views of Lichfield and the surrounding counties. The tour starts in our Bell Ringing Room, and you will learn about the newly refurbished bells that are 300 years old in 2026 – so will have been heard by Samuel Johnson himself! The tour then continues up to the viewing platform and you will learn a little about the history of St Mary’s and Lichfield on the way up. Each of the four viewing windows has a panoramic drawing highlighting the key points of interest that can be seen along with a few fascinating facts

  • Bar: Our bottle bar sells a wide range of drinks and snacks (cash and card accepted). The bar is open for 30 minutes before the show starts and during the interval. Drinks can be taken to your seat. The bar will remain open throughout standing gigs.
  • Little Shop: We keep our Little Shop stocked with beautiful creations from a diverse range of local artists. It’s important to us to support local businesses and encourage our audiences to do the same too.
