  • Animal experiences: Exmoor Zoo cares for 175 species of animals, birds and reptiles. Many extremely rare captive species are exhibited such as Malagasy civets, margays, New Guinea singing dogs, rusty-spotted cats and yellow-throated martens.
  • Carnivore experience: A very privileged VIP behind the scenes zoo animal experience and close encounter with our bigger cats and dogs. Get as close as a whisker to a Leopard or Puma or maybe enjoy the interaction of our Australian dingo’s.
  • Meet and greet experiences: Come and get really close to the animals and help feed them. These experiences are all about one hour in duration and are your own personal experience. After the session is finished, they will give you a certificate and then you have the rest of the day to enjoy the zoo.
  • Walk on the wild side: Are you passionate about wildlife? Would you like to get up close and personal with exotic animals? Walk on the wild side experience gives you an exclusive VIP guided tour with one of the senior zoo staff, who will introduce you to a range of the zoo’s inhabitants and ensure that you experience them in a very special way. 
  • Animal Adoption: Anyone can adopt an animal—whether you’re an individual, a large company, a Cub pack, or a care home for the elderly. Simply choose the animal you’d like to sponsor and complete the online booking form below.
  • Keeper for a Day: Through “Keeper for a Day” scheme zoo can offer you a unique opportunity to experience a day in the life of a zoo keeper, but be warned, you will be expected to join in the “cleaning”. “Keeper for a Day” experience is available to anyone over 16 years of age (Children between the ages of 8-15 inclusive can do the junior keeper for 1/2 a day).

Facilities

  • Food & Drinks: You have the option to eat with us here at the zoo’s African Café & conservatory Tea rooms, or you are welcome to bring your own food with you to eat in our designated picnic areas.  
  • Parking: Car parking is available next to reception.
  • Picnic areas: The zoo has several picnic areas. You are more than welcome to bring your own picnic lunches. An undercover picnic area is situated next to the playground and can be served by the Snack Shack in main summer school holiday term times.

Birthday Party Details

What better way to celebrate your birthday than to have your birthday party at the zoo?

  • Your party lunch in the African Café will be either sandwiches, sausage rolls, sausages, cakes, biscuits, soft drink and crisps (but not a birthday cake, bring your own cake and leave it with our café staff) or chicken nuggets and chips in a party box.
  • Zoo will take care of all the children’s catering for you (except the birthday cake). Two styles of party are available; our standard party where afterwards you can continue to enjoy the rest of the zoo for the day or our deluxe party where your own personal encounter session follows (about 30 minutes duration in our education centre) and then you can retire to the rest of the zoo.
  • Encounter sessions can revolve around your selection of our friendly contact animals such as our meerkats, owl, armadillo or other animals that we use daily at the zoo such as the snakes, spiders, or minibeasts!

For the standard party:

  • Per child party lunch (party food or nuggets/sausages/fish fingers & chips and squash) £17.45 (3-15 inc)

For the deluxe party:

  • Per child party lunch (party food or nuggets/sausages/fish fingers & chips and squash)  £20.45 (3-15 inc) 
  • 1 Adult free with every 6 children
  • Additional adults £13.00 and must be paid for with booking.(does not include food)
