Beecraigs Country Park is a large 370 hectare country park located in the Bathgate Hills near Linlithgow. It offers a wide range of leisure and recreational activities set within woodland and natural surroundings. The park is designed for visitors of all ages to enjoy outdoor experiences throughout the year.

Visitors can enjoy activities such as walking trails, cycling, mountain bike trails and skills area, horse riding, dog walking, orienteering, and target and field archery. Attractions include the adventure play area with flying foxes, spider net, wigwam huts, slides, swings and sand play, as well as a secure dog area, caravan and camping site, ranger service and Sutherland Building for hire. The park also features a Visitor Centre with café, gift shop, seating and facilities, along with woodland walks and outdoor spaces.

Admission to Beecraigs Country Park is free, with additional facilities such as room hire, group activities and secure dog area available to book in advance.

  • Adventure Play Area: Race one another on the flying foxes, climb the ever popular spider net, explore the wigwam huts, slides & swings, sand play area, chill out in the zone or simply sit back and watch the fun.
  • Cycling: Bring your bike along when you come to Beecraigs and explore the many forest roads through the Park. If you are cycling up to Beecraigs from Linlithgow, an off-road route is available from Preston Road, through Hillhouse Woodland linking into the main body of the Park.  
  • Dog Walking: If your dog does not come back to you on command or is prone to run away, please keep your dog on a lead when walking in Beecraigs Country Park. By law, all dogs must always wear collars displaying your contact details when in a public place.
  • Horse Riding: If you are riding up to Beecraigs from Linlithgow, an off-road route is available from Preston Road, through Hillhouse Woodland linking into the main body of the Park (contact the Visitor Centre for further information). Should you be bringing a bus or horse box to Beecraigs, please park in the Hillhouse Car Park.
  • Orienteering: Orienteering is a great fun family outing or a fantastic group activity which develops team work, fitness and map reading skills. Some free maps may be available at Almondell & Calderwood Visitor Centre and Beecraigs Visitor Centre.
  • Walking at Beecraigs: Miles of walks and trails criss-cross through the woodlands.
  • Beecraigs Visitor Centre: West Lothian Council has converted the old Beecraigs Restaurant building into the Beecraigs Visitor Centre providing: reception, facility bookings (including caravan & camping site and Sutherland Building room hire), visitor information, gift sales, ice cream sales, confectionary sales, public toilets (available during opening hours only), staff office provision, outdoor seating and Hideaway Café.

  • From the M9 - leave at J3 if coming from east and J4 if coming from west, follow A803 into Linlithgow and then follow Beecraigs Country Park signage from Preston Road.
  • Our car parks provide good access to all the Park's facilities. 
  • From the M8 - leave at J3a onto A89 for Bathgate, then follow B792 towards Torphichen and follow signs for Beecraigs Country Park.
  • For those of you using satellite navigation, the postal code EH49 6PL will direct you to the Visitor Centre but we advise you to also refer to your car atlas.
