Features

  • Women's History Month: Join us in celebrating Women’s History Month and the remarkable women featured in our Collection. Step beyond the frame and discover the women who shaped the collection. Encounter powerful queens, influential patrons, celebrated sitters and pioneering artists, and explore how identity, ambition and symbolism were crafted into paint, marble and gilt.
  • Swords of Lucknow: Discover swords of Lucknow in our free display. Nearly a metre long and richly decorated with enamel and gold, these five swords reveal the splendour of 18th- and 19th-century Lucknow, a flourishing centre of power, artistry and cultural exchange.
  • The Wallace Collection at War: Learn more about the Wallace Collection at war in our free display. In 1942, with the museum's treasures evacuated for safety, Hertford House became an unlikely stage for cultural diplomacy. Two exhibitions transformed the empty galleries into a forum for Anglo-Soviet friendship at a critical moment in the conflict.
  • Boulle's Furniture: André-Charles Boulle (1642–1732) was one of the most influential French cabinetmakers of the 17th and 18th centuries. Developing the technique of turtleshell and metal marquetry that would later carry his name, Boulle revolutionised the practice of furniture making while shaping the taste of his exclusive patrons, foremost among which were Louis XIV, his family and his courtiers.
  • Boucher's Paintings: In spring 2024, the Wallace Collection launched a collaboration with British artist Flora Yukhnovich (1990). Known for her modern interpretation of Rococo art, Yukhnovich created two new paintings inspired by François Boucher (1703–1770), a leading artist of the Rococo period. Boucher had a major influence on French art, and his work strongly shaped Yukhnovich’s style.
