The Porthmadog Treasure Trail is a self-guided treasure hunt adventure set in the scenic Welsh town of Porthmadog. It offers a fun and interactive way to explore the town while solving clues and uncovering a hidden mystery. This outdoor activity is ideal for families, friends, and groups looking for an engaging day out.
The story follows the mystery of the missing golden ship’s bell, once owned by Davy Jones and later lost from a slate railway train. Participants help his descendant Jack Pott by following clues from an old notebook, exploring the harbour, Slate Railway, and River Glaslyn estuary. The 2.7-mile loop trail takes around 3 hours and includes a text message service for hints if needed.
The trail costs £9.99 GBP per Trail, with one booklet recommended for a group of 4 to 5 people. Treasure Trail birthday parties are also available, where teams solve clues together as part of a ready-made outdoor adventure.
This experience combines sightseeing, storytelling, and puzzle-solving into one exciting activity. It is suitable for ages 6 to 106, making it perfect for families and small groups.
