Box Hill is the perfect place to discover a family walk and explore the Surrey Hills. Forming part of the North Downs, Box Hill has views across the surrounding countryside. It's home to lots of wildlife and plants too, including the Adonis blue butterfly and bee orchid.

  • Food & Drinks: Café - Treat yourself at the Box Hill café . We serve barista-style coffees with traditional round cakes and bakes for a tasty treat. If you like something hot, we have a range of hearty and light lunches. Every time you bring your own cup, we will give you 25p off as a thank you. We have high chairs, accessible crockery and cutlery and are open daily from 10am.
  • Toilet: Toilets are located next to the café, adjacent the main car park.
  • Dogs allowed: Well-controlled dogs are welcome. Please keep dogs on leads where livestock are grazing. Dogs on a short lead are welcome in our café.

  • By road: From Junction 9 of the M25: follow the A243 (signed A24 Epsom, Dorking and Leatherhead), before taking the A24 towards Dorking for 4 miles. At the bottom of the hill, turn left on the roundabout on to the B2209, then right on to the Zig Zag Road* to the summit of Box Hill. *Not suitable for large vehicles. Coaches please approach from east, B2032/B2033.
  • On foot: 1 mile of North Downs Way from Stepping Stones to South Scarp; 1 mile of Thames Down link footpath at Mickleham Downs; 0.5 mile from Dorking station or Box Hill and West Humble train stations. Many rights of way lead to Box Hill summit.
  • By train: Box Hill and Westhumble station 0.5 miles. Dorking 0.5 miles. Leatherhead 5 miles. On Saturdays the Surrey Connect bus runs from Dorking station to Box Hill. Must be booked in advance via the Surrey Connect app or tel 0300 123 7751.
  • By bus: Metrobus 21 Epsom, Leatherhead, Dorking and Crawley to Box Hill east car park (not Sundays or Bank Hols); Arriva 465 Kingston to Dorking to foot of Box Hill, 0.75 miles to summit.
