Museum: Immerse yourself in the extraordinary history of The Black Watch. From its formation in 1739 to the amalgamation of the Regiment in 2006 The Black Watch has played many pivotal roles in our military history. From its early years keeping “watch” over the highlands to the French Wars, Empire, the First and Second World Wars and more recent conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, the regiment has witnessed and contributed to many key moments in World history. A visit to The Black Watch Museum brings those moments of history to life.
Daily Guided Tour: During the Summer months guided tours are available at 11am and 2pm. During Winter they take place daily at 11am. Your Guided tour ticket prices includes all day admission to the Museum.
Private Black Watch Story Tour: Explore the incredible history of Scotland’s oldest Highland Regiment and discover a collection of compelling soldier stories with our exclusive private Black Watch Story Tour.
Museum Quiet Time: We offer Quiet Hour sessions, where we reduce noise and lighting where possible and limit visitor numbers to create a more relaxed experience. These sessions are not currently available to book online, but we’d be pleased to arrange a visit directly with you.
Hands on with Object Handling: Discover artefacts from The Black Watch Castle and Museums collections that will be available to handle and discuss their history with a member of our team. Hold a helmet struck by a bullet in the First World War and read a newspaper clipping printed over a hundred years ago as you learn about the history and heritage of The Black Watch.
