Welcome to the St Bartholomew's Hospital Museum, it is located in Barts North Wing. It tells the story of nine centuries of healthcare at the edge of the City of London using stories from the hospital's archives and object collections.

Discover the restored Hogarth murals, See a masterpiece of art and history at St Bartholomew’s Hospital.After nearly two years of restoration, the historic North Wing — home to William Hogarth’s famous murals The Pool of Bethesda and The Good Samaritan — has reopened.The project has also revived the Great Hall’s gilded ceiling in one of London’s most remarkable hospital buildings.

Things to see and do

  • Guides: To enhance your visit, you can pick up a multimedia or audio guide at our desk at the Barts North Wing entrance. There is a small cost for hiring these.
  • Mobile guide: Our digital guide can be viewed on your own device. This tour allows you to explore the Henry VIII Gatehouse, Barts the Less Church, the hospital Square, and provides a short introduction to Barts North Wing.
  • Activities: There are a range of free heritage inspired activities to enjoy.

Facilities

  • Parking: There is no public parking at the hospital. If you do need to drive, the Rotunda multi-storey public car park is close to the hospital in West Smithfield. NCP Aldersgate multi-storey is also nearby.
  • Food and drink: There is a small café in the hospital’s King George V building and cafés nearby, including 21 West, Beppe’s and Half Cup.
  • Dogs: Assistance dogs and dogs registered with the Emotional Support Animal Registry are welcome.
