Penshaw Equestrian Centre, located at the foot of Penshaw Monument, is a British Horse Society approved centre offering riding tuition for all levels, from Tiny Tots (2.5 years) to riders preparing for BHS examinations. The Changing Lives Through Horses (CLtH) programme provides group sessions and one-to-one sessions for young people aged 5–25 with special needs, using professional coaching to develop key life skills including confidence, teamwork, responsibility, and perseverance.
Lessons in the 60m x 20m sand arena, including private (£40), group & Tots (£35), Tiny Tots (£23), 45-min semi-private (£40 per person), and hacking out (£38–£48). Pony Academy sessions on weekends teach horse care, grooming, and stable management, while Pony Weeks during school holidays (9am–4pm, Mon–Fri) offer stable management, pony games, crafts, riding, and end-of-week shows for £195 per full week, with flexible payment plans.
