Hopefield Animal Sanctuary in Brentwood, Essex, is set on 53 acres of countryside and is home to nearly 700 rescued animals. It’s a peaceful and friendly place that welcomes visitors of all ages to connect with nature and animal welfare. The sanctuary runs family-friendly events, ethical animal experiences, and school visits throughout the year.

You can meet over 100 species of animals, let kids enjoy the dedicated play area next to Max’s Café, or take part in special events like Exotic Animal Weekend or the Haunted Halloween Festival. For a more personal touch, Ethical Animal Experiences offer up-close encounters in a caring environment.

Online admission is £9.00 for adults, £8.00 for children (2–15), and £32.00 for a family of four. Gate prices are £1.50 higher per person; event day pricing may vary.

Children’s Play Area: Children’s play area opened in June 2023, and is already a much-loved feature at the sanctuary! Situated next to Max’s Cafe, it’s a perfect place for the adults to grab a coffee & cake, whilst letting the kids burn off some steam.
Ethical Animal Experieces: Whether you’re looking for a fun family outing, a unique date idea, or simply a chance to connect with incredible rescued animals, our Ethical Animal Experience delivers an unforgettable experience.
Events: Hopefield Animal Sanctuary’s upcoming events include the Kids BIG Fun Weekend (26–27 July), Exotic Animal Weekend (2–3 August), and End of Summer Carnival (23–25 August). September features Dog First Aid Training, Doggy Fun Day, and Cars & Crafts, followed by the Haunted Halloween Festival from 26 October to 3 November.

Facilities

Food & Drinks: Max’s Café serves sandwiches, baguettes, cakes, snacks, and hot & cold drinks. You can eat inside the tearoom, the tearoom marquee, or out outdoor eating area located in the events field.
Parking: FREE on-site parking.
Picnic areas: You’re welcome to bring a picnic with you (we have picnic tables set up in Events Field).
