Ackers Adventure is a charity that exists to promote and engage people of all ages, abilities and disabilities in the regular pursuit of outdoor adventure activities.They are an outdoor activity centre located in Birmingham! Join in with the fun and excitement by choosing any of our activities.

The venue offers a 100 metre long ski slope, with nursery slopes and a 25 metre toboggan slope, 3 climbing walls including a 20 metre high tower which also homes our zip wire and fan descender, a fully equipped, self-catering residential centre, a canal basin perfect for canoeing, kayaking and bellboating, also 2 archery ranges, team building field, bushcraft survival zone, jungle challenge obstacle course and much more.

What to see

ACTIVITIES

Archery: Release your inner Robin Hood and try one of England’s favourite and oldest past times by learning how to use a bow and arrows.

Bellboating: A bellboat is a twin-hulled canoe joined by a platform. The paddlers sit in line in each hull facing forward. Up to 10 participants can enjoy this fantastic fun experience in one boat.

Bushcraft: Bushcraft is a popular activity that gives you the chance to get back to nature and test your survival skills.

Canoeing & Kayaking: Our canoe/kayak sessions can cater for all levels from complete beginners to regular paddlers on the Grand Union Canal which runs through our site.

Climbing and Abseiling: The venue has 3 climbing walls… The Crag, The Pyramid and The Tower. Each wall has various grades ranging from basic traverses to more difficult climbs for those wanting more of a challenge.

Disc Golf: The venue has installed a nine-hole course here at Ackers Adventure which is the first course in Birmingham. The course utilises an area of the centre that was once used as a 4x4 offroad track, we have cleared the paths through lots of undergrowth to create the nine-hole course.

Orienteering: The venue is situated in over 70 acres of semi-rural land making us the ideal location for orienteering.

Skiing: The venue has floodlit synthetic bristle matting slopes available for use throughout the year. The main slope is approximately 100 metres long and the nursery slope is 30 meters.

Snowboarding: The place offers lessons and you can use our 100 metre and 30 metre dry slope for snowboarding as well as skiing.

Team Building: The place offers a range of options within our teambuilding activity for your group. The venue is situated in over 70 acres of semi-rural land and can host a wide range of programmes

Tobogganing: Tobogganing is fast, exciting, exhilarating and fun activity for children aged between 3 and 12.

Tubing: Tubing is a fun activity that can be enjoyed on your own or in a group.

Tower Drop: At the top of our 20 metre tower we have a Tower Drop that simulates a free fall drop. Participants are fitted with a harness and helmet

Zip Wire: The venue has 2 individual Zip Wires that run off our 20 metre tower. The higher line is 150 metres long and the lower line is 100 metres long.

INDIVIDUALS & FAMILIES

Skiing-Snowboarding-Tubing-Tobogganing: With outstanding outdoor Ski Slope, the place offers all things Ski. Experienced coaches can teach any ability.

Holiday Camp: School Holiday scheme is for children aged 8-16. Each day includes 2 outdoor activities and a variety of craft & field-game activities. It runs Monday – Friday from 8:00am – 6:00pm.

Challenge yourself on Thrillseeker Days: Thrillseeker days allow you to experience a whole range of activities on a turn up and queue system.

Skiing – Archery – Climbing – Canoeing – Kayaking – Jungle Challenge – Zip Wire – Tower Drop.

Book a one and a half hour taster session for: Each session will be one and a half hours long and will be led by a qualified, experienced instructor. Each group will contain a maximum of 10 people.

Abseiling – Archery – Bushcraft– Climbing– Canoeing – Jungle Challenge.

Grand Union Canal Guided Canoe Tour: This tour starts off in our on-site canal basin area, where your qualified instructor will cover the basics of canoeing for any beginners and give a safety briefing. The group will then paddle out on to the Grand Union Canal, turning right towards Birmingham. The tour will give you a glimpse of industrial Birmingham from the water, passing through locks before stopping for lunch. The group will then paddle back to our basin.

Outdoor Activities Party (ages 6+):

The Outdoor Activities party where you choose from our list of amazing adventure activities for the children to enjoy. Or packages include either 1 or 2 activities. Each package is prices for up to 10 children and we can cater for up to 30 in a one party. You can add 30 minutes of tobogganing afterwards to any of our outdoor activity childrens party packages for just £40 per group of 10 children. Your child and their friends are sure to enjoy a different outdoor activity based birthday party that is easy to get to in the middle of Birmingham. 

Other Information: Parties are booked per group of 10 children, the venue can cater for up to 30 children on the toboggan slope at any one time, activities are dependent on instructor availability. If you would like a tower package (either tower drop or zip wire as your chosen activity) instead of one of the above outdoor activity packages please add £20 on to the costings of outdoor activity party packages. You can add 30 minutes of tobogganing afterwards to any of the outdoor activity party packages for just £40 per group of 10 children.

Via Car From Birmingham City Centre:

  • Take the A45 Coventry Road East towards Coventry. After approx. 1 mile, at a large roundabout with a McDonalds on the left, continue along the A45 to Coventry following the brown signs for “The Ackers”.

  • At the next roundabout, Poets Corner (there is a large mosque with a domed roof, turn right down Golden Hillock Road, signposted to “The Ackers”.

  • Proceed 250m past Small Heath Train Station and a trading estate to an area of fenced parkland on the left-hand side. The entrance to Ackers Adventure is towards the end of the parkland.

  • Enter the site, alongside the football pitches and follow the road and signs for approx. half a mile to the activity centre.

Via Car From Coventry, NEC or the M42:

  • Take the A45 Coventry Road West towards Birmingham. Continue to the first island (approx 6 miles), called Hey Barnes Circus with a large ASDA ahead and KFC on the left.

  • Take the second exit following the dual carriageway to Birmingham, ignoring signs to The ARC (our residential centre), to the next island (Poets Corner) with a large mosque with a domed roof on the right hand side.

  • Turn left down Golden Hillock Road then

  • Proceed 250m past Small Heath Train Station and a trading estate to an area of fenced park land on the left hand side. The entrance to Ackers Adventure is towards the end of the park land.

  • Enter the site, alongside the football pitches and follow the road and signs for approx. half a mile to the activity centre.

Via Bus:

  • 8a, 8c to the Walford Road (10 minute walk)

  • 4 to the Warwick Road (15 minute walk)

  • 5 and 6 to the Stratford Road (20 minute walk)

Via Train:

  • From Birmingham Snow Hill or Birmingham Moor Street to Small Heath Train Station (15 minute walk)

The venue is located just 2 miles from the city centre and are easily accessible by car and public transport.
