The Ladies’ College aims to allow every girl to find her voice, to explore ideas, build connections and to have the space to discover who she is. At the heart of the school is the staff, all of whom are not only passionate about their subjects, but also about the development and empowerment of each individual pupil. They aim to ensure that every girl is known, supported and challenged, so that, both academically and personally, she is digging deeper, being braver and exploring the world around her. They recognise that kindness is the ground in which all other things grow - in which you can be brave, take risks and learn. They are therefore very proud ofthe pastoral system, and for being the first school in the Channel Islands to be recognised with the Wellbeing Award for Schools. Knowledge and care for our pupils are at the heart of everything they do and the approach empowers pupils to develop resilience and to tackle the things that can be hard.
Pre-Preparatory
The Pre-Preparatory Department is a safe, calm and nurturing environment for your little girl to start her school life. Here, learning and growing takes place indoors and out all through the school year, led by our caring and qualified staff. The girls are happy and settled and thrive under our expert guidance. From the first days they feel part of The Ladies' College family and stay with their friends as they move up to through the Junior school, Senior School and Sixth form together.
Junior Department
Here we follow the National Curriculum with its core subjects of English, Mathematics and Science, although we do go beyond the requirements of the National Curriculum. They also follow the foundation subjects of History, Geography, Music, Physical Education, Art, Design and Technology and Information Communication Technology. Religious Education, Speech and Drama, French, Personal, Social and Health Education and Forest School Outdoor Learning are also part of the curriculum. They expand and extend areas of the curriculum to ensure the girls receive a well rounded, balanced education.
Senior Department
At The Ladies’ College the girls are inspired to succeed within a caring school community. They teach the students to be adaptable in their learning, receptive to the advice and support of their teachers, and resolute in their desire to make the most of every opportunity. The teachers work tirelessly to ensure students are supported, both academically and emotionally, and to impart a sense of responsibility for supporting each other. The academic record continues to be outstanding and this year they maintained the 100% pass rate with every student gaining five 9 to 4 (A*- C) grades, including English and Mathematics. 74.8% of grades were 9 to 7 (A*/A), and 91.1% were 9 to 6 (A* to B).In addition, value added data demonstrates that the students achieve significantly, which is a reflection of their work ethic and the support they get from committed, conscientious and talented teachers.
