At St John's, they welcome boys of all backgrounds whose parents recognise in our Jesuit values and approach to education something they wish to nurture in their own children.A boy’s growth at St John’s is the culmination of a strong partnership between school and home. They want to work together to establish values and a way of thinking that will influence a boy’s whole life; not simply defined through his school achievements but also in time by the kind of partner, colleague or potentially father he becomes.Jesuit Pupil Profile at St John's Beaumont SchoolSt John’s is a very special place to work and to learn. The boys are offered every possible opportunity to excel in a wide variety of areas, both academically, but importantly also in the wider curriculum as well. St John’s naturally suits boys who are open-minded, spiritual, compassionate but also importantly critical thinkers.

Facilities

PRESCHOOL (PRE-PREP)
Situated in the serene Surrey countryside, near Windsor and Eton, our wonderful Pre-Prep department (Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2) sits within a highly-esteemed academic independent catholic boys school from which pupils move on after Year 8 to some of the country’s finest senior schools.Within our richly academic, creative and active environment, our long-established team of passionate and experienced staff is aiming to build your son’s confidence and independence throughout the Early Years and Key Stage 1.

MIDDLE SCHOOL
The boys leave the Nicholas Owen block at the end of Year 2 (at the age of 7/8) and move into the historic main school building to continue their education journey at St John’s in the Middle School. The Middle School covers Years 3 to 5 (our year groups are named Bellarmine, Lower Elements and Upper Elements respectively). The Head of Middle School, a member of the School Leadership Team, has day to day responsibility for this part of the school and is readily available to parents to discuss their son’s progress. The Middle School aims to build on the excellent progress boys will have made in our Nicholas Owen Block by encouraging the boys to engage actively in their learning and by developing their self-confidence, whether through the academic curriculum or the many wider opportunities in the school.

UPPER SCHOOL
After Year 5, boys continue their journey through St John's Beaumont School into the Upper School where they will be growing into young men for others and prepare for their common entrance exams. The Upper School covers Years 6 to 8 (our year groups are named Lower Figures, Upper Figures and Rudiments respectively). In Upper School there is a strong emphasis on encouraging boys to engage even more actively in their learning, through a meta-cognitive awareness of how they learn and make relationships.

BOARDING
St John’s has always been a boarding school and retains its original accommodation, albeit now modernised to offer more comfortable and practical accommodation. This provides the boys with both privacy and their own individual workspace.Boarders enjoy a vibrant pastoral system with outstanding medical and personal care. Accommodation is divided into two dormitories with space for 30 boys each.

Features

Things to note

CREATIVE & PERFORMING ARTS
When you believe in developing the whole child, nurturing their imagination, creativity and spirit are hugely important. A significant benefit of being part of an all-boys school is the opportunity for your son to try anything without inhibition. This allows him to develop all sides of his character. The creative arts at St John’s Beaumont School are integrated throughout the curriculum and co-curricular activity programme from Pre-Prep onwards.

SPORTS & SWIMMING
Boys participating, enjoying and contributing to a wide variety of sports is extremely important to their daily routine. It is widely recognised that a healthy lifestyle contributes enormously to a child’s sense of achievement and happiness. It is however important that boys are offered a variety of sports in which they can compete. Doing so widens the scope for boys of all abilities to contribute to the life of the school and also encourages a wider range of sporting skills.

EXTRA CURRICULAR
At St John’s they run a very large number of extra-curricular activities – all planned with boys in mind. For some boys, their personal strength may lie outside of the academic curriculum and it is important that these skills are recognised to the greatest extent possible within the structure of the school.  The clubs at St John’s provide an opportunity for the boys to try new things, forge friendships outside of the classroom and develop existing skills and interests.

TRIPS
They go to every length possible to offer our boys other valuable opportunities outside of the academic curriculum which will enrich their understanding of the world. As such, trips are an integral part of the curriculum throughout the whole school from Nursery to Rudiments (Year 8).In Pre-Prep, exciting trips help the boys to see more of the wider world, whether learning about history, science or mathematics. Mountfitchet Castle, HMS Victory and Chessington Zoo are firm favourites. Visitors, such as the local Fire Brigade and Police Force, are welcome.
