We are very proud of our academic and sporting record, and the self-belief that we foster amongst all Saint Felix pupils, as individuals, to be the best that they can be.Established over 125 years ago as an all-girls school, Saint Felix was a pioneer of its time, and this same spirit lives on today. The broad curriculum and extensive offer of more than 40 enrichment activities enables us to provide opportunities for all children to develop their own particular talents, wherever they may lie.Fully co-educational since 2002, our pupils come from a variety of backgrounds. The highly regarded swimming programme attracts students from across the globe, while our prime location, friendly atmosphere and beautiful grounds also make us very attractive to parents and children closer to home in Suffolk and Norfolk.
Nursery
The Saint Felix School Nursery is a safe and friendly environment where very young children begin to develop their full potential as they explore the world around them.Fully qualified and caring staff, plan activities that allow each child to extend their communication and thinking skills alongside their problem solving capabilities.Large bright and airy classrooms, specialist rest areas, space for music and indoor play and an enviable outside playground full of wheeled toys, all encourage the children’s social and physical skills to develop to the maximum potential.Every child in our nursery is carefully observed as they progress along their Learning Journey. This is shared with parents and encourages good communication between home and school. We aim to identify each child’s unique interests and abilities, allowing us to carefully plan their next step forward.
Pre Prep
This idyllic setting provides a safe, stable environment, where children between two and seven years old can take their first steps towards a happy, independent life. Bright airy classrooms, exciting outdoor play areas and qualified, experienced staff, ensure that each and every child has the opportunity to develop to their full potential, at their own pace. Both the EYFS and KS1 curriculums focus on child initiated, ‘hands on’ activities. These provide the children with opportunities to learn by looking, listening, speaking and discovering things for themselves. Indoor and outdoor experiences are incorporated into the children’s daily routine. A timetable of visitors and regular outings, enable children to gain a greater understanding of the local community and their own place in the wider world.
Prep
The Preparatory Department is based in Clough House, an old boarding house at the heart of the school campus for children between the ages of 7 and 11 (Year 3-6).The building is well equipped for modern day education; each classroom has an interactive whiteboard and we have our own designated art, music, ICT and cookery rooms, as well as grass and hard-standing playground areas and play equipment. We receive pupils from the Pre-Preparatory Department, allow them to develop over four years and then we pass them on to the Senior Department ready to prepare for the rigours of GCSE and A Level. The aim is to develop the range and breadth of every child. They provide a broad syllabus and ensure that all children achieve a high standard of work across the curriculum. Children at Saint Felix develop self-confidence and self-esteem in a caring and happy environment. All of our pupils represent the school at sport, they all sing in the Choir, they all perform in concerts and all pupils have a role in the annual Preparatory Department productions.
