Perrott Hill is Independent Secondary school in Non-selective for kids aged 3 to 13 (Gender - 3 to 13 )
Perrott Hill is an independent day and boarding prep school for girls and boys aged 3-13 located on a stunningly beautiful estate just outside Crewkerne, on the borders of Somerset and Dorset. They encourage all the children to take full advantage of all the school has to offer as it truly is an inspirational place in which energy and enthusiasm are abundant – in the classroom, on the games fields, in music, art, drama and every other aspect of the rich and diverse school life. All this activity creates a very strong sense of belonging and fellowship among the pupils, and a deep-seated respect for themselves and everything around them.
Pre-Prep
They know that starting a new school is an exciting – but sometimes daunting – prospect, and the dedicated and compassionate staff know exactly what it takes to make these early years an enjoyable and positive experience.Children can join them at any point during the year, and can begin their learning journey with them in the term of their third birthday. They are supported by the committed Pre-Prep teachers, with specialist subject teachers who teach the children from Nursery to Year 2. They also welcome older pupils, who regularly visit the Pre-Prep classrooms to read with the children and support their learning and playing, as well as taking our Year 1 and 2 children off to weekly House meetings.
Preparatory School
Perrott Hill is a country preparatory school with a strong family ethos, educating boys and girls from ages 3 to 13. Class sizes are small, with one or two classes per year group – and they take great care to both encourage and stretch children based upon their individual needs and strengths.Perrott Hill combines extremely high standards of academic rigour and pastoral care. The school has an outstanding record of scholarship success. In the last two years the sixty-two children leaving school at the end of Year 8 secured thirty-two awards to senior schools with scholarships being awarded for academic, artistic, sporting, dramatic, musical, equine and all-round ability.Against a background of traditional values, they have the time and space to ensure that every child achieves their very best. Pupils are given the individual attention necessary to ensure that they flourish, whether it be: in the classroom; on the sports fields (children play games five days a week); in the music school; in the art department; during the vast array of activities on offer. They also invest time in teaching manners and the common courtesies which are so often overlooked in the rush of modern-day life.
Extra-Curricular Activities
They encourage children to make the most of their time outside the classroom at Perrott Hill. As such, clubs and activities are available after school every day from 1625 to 1745. Some activities take place in the evenings and are available to boarders and those children who are staying for supper. Some activities, such as ballet, golf, cooking, riding, and several others, incur an additional charge. Others, such as table tennis, chess, art, woods, multi sports and football, are free. Tennis coaching is provided all year round, and there are limited places for horse riding, which takes place off-site. The full list of activities is sent to parents before the start of every term, with an online booking form.
