Features

  • Iconic chairlift: Take a breathtaking chairlift ride down to Alum Bay beach, the best way to see the iconic Needles Rocks and Lighthouse. Start your day with a delightful trip from the top of the Alum Bay cliffs down to the beach below and experience spectacular views of the picturesque Needles Rocks and Lighthouse, as well as the multi-coloured sand cliffs of Alum Bay and the stunning turquoise waters beyond. The chairlift takes you back to the top but before taking your return journey you can enjoy Alum Bay beach and a boat trip to see the Needles Rocks up close.
  • Boat Trips: For a close-up view of the Needles Rocks and Lighthouse and panoramic views of the coloured Alum Bay cliffs, take one of the pleasure boats from the jetty for a dramatic trip around the landmarks. Choose between a 20-minute slow cruise to take in the stunning scenery at a leisurely pace, or opt for a 15-minute fast trip on the high-speed rib. Whichever one you choose, you’re guaranteed a breathtaking Isle of Wight experience. The boat trips themselves are independently operated by Needles Pleasure Cruises Ltd.
  • Alum Bay Glass: Marvel at the Isle of Wight’s longest-established glassmakers at work in their studio and shop their wares. Established in 1972, Alum Bay Glass is the Isle of Wight’s longest-established glassmaker producing beautiful and unique glassware with live demonstrations from our skilled local craftsmen. From perfume bottles and vases to bowls, ornaments and doorknobs, our talented glassmakers create a wide range of one-of-a-kind glassware handcrafted right here on the island.
  • The Sweet Manufactory: Watch our creative confectioners make sweets in front of your eyes, then sample their tasty treats. During the 19th century, many new sweets were invented including some of today’s much-loved favourites such as candy floss, liquorice allsorts, jelly babies, wine gums and marshmallows. Now you can see the process for yourself in The Sweet Manufactory. Watch in awe and wonder as our expert confectioners create sweet treats in front of your very eyes – then sample the results with more than 30 fantastic flavours to choose from.
  • The Sand Shop: Choose from a variety of glass shapes to fill with shades of coloured Alum Bay sand, just as Queen Victoria did. Filling a glass or plastic shape with layers of Alum Bay’s 21 shades of sand has been a tradition since the mid-1800s when Queen Victoria was presented with a special souvenir. Today, it’s a fond childhood memory for many. In order to protect the cliff for future generations, guests are no longer able to collect their own sand, but can still create their own unique sand ornaments in The Sand Shop.
  • Dino Jeep Safari: Dino Jeep Safari is a ride for children aged 4-12 Younger children may ride when accompanied by an adult but must be over 86cm in height. The driver will need to be able to sit, grip the steering wheel and use the right foot to operate the pedal. Each jeep consists of 2 seats. The front seat is for the driver, and the rear seat is only to be used by an accompanying adult, who will be able to control the jeep for younger riders. There is an element of climbing involved to alight and disembark.
  • Jurassic Adventure Golf: Our prehistoric Jurassic Adventure Golf course features eleven 5 and 6-par holes set among imaginative water features and storyboards depicting a range of dinosaur species. Whether you happen to be an expert golfer or have never held a putter before, you’re sure to have a roarsome time!
  • Carousel: Without a doubt the most iconic fairground ride of all time, the carousel is a true family favourite enjoyed and remembered by young and old. Always an eye-catching attraction, the carousel as we know it today has entertained crowds at fairgrounds since the reign of Queen Victoria.
  • Tea Cups: One of the kids’ favourite rides at The Needles is the Tea Cups! Jump in your very own teacup, which spins and whirls around. Spin the wheel to increase the pace or go gentle if you prefer a slower ride. Each cup can fit up to 4 people so it’s great fun for all the family.
  • Games Kiosk: Show the rest of the family what you’re made of by having a go at our traditional fairground games including Hook A Duck and Tin Can Alley. If you happen to be both skilled and lucky, there are some fantastic prizes to be won!

Facilities

  • Parking: Car parking through the Winter is free.
