Established on the site of the former Weybourne Camp - once an important military training ground, the Museum provides a fascinating  journey through Britain’s wartime history.

The UK’s Largest Privately Owned Military Museum. Muckleburgh offers an excellent day out for military-history buffs and everyone alike. The core of our collection is our attractive range of military vehicles, including our displays from artillery to armoured cars, trucks, and tanks.

  • Anti-Aircraft: The museum has a significant anti-aircraft presence, including large 88mm guns, a Rapier missile launcher, a field radar system, and a 3.7-inch anti-aircraft gun battery.   • Light tanks at Muckleburgh: The Muckleburgh Military Collection in Norfolk features several light tanks which you can see whilst exploring our museum, many of which are kept in working condition. These are just a few you can discover whilst exploring our collection during your visit. 
  • Armoured Cars: As you step into the Museum, during your visit you are greeted by a diverse array of armoured vehicles, each telling its own story. When looking at the many British cars on display, one will notice the Alvis Saladin which was a six-wheeled armoured car utilized by the British Army, first deployed in Oman and Cyprus. It continued to serve until the 1990 invasion of Kuwait and remained in use by various countries until as recently as 2009. Its open-topped design, while offering a panoramic view, also posed challenges in terms of crew protection.
  • The Suffolk and Norfolk Yeomanry Collection: The Suffolk and Norfolk Yeomanry were each formed in the late 18th century for the purpose of defending the nation against a French invasion. Until the turn of the 20th century Yeomanry had only been called upon for home defence.
  • The Muckleburgh Missile Collection: A range of missiles can be seen in the Museum which includes: The Bristol Bloodhound Mk 2 is a British surface-to-air missile developed during the 1950's as the UK's main air defence weapon. Radar controlled it could accurately destroy aircraft up to a height of almost 60,000 feet. The missile comprises two ram jet engines and four solid fuel boosters which fall away when the ram jets take over. The Museum's missile came from RAF West Raynham in Norfolk and the launch unit from Switzerland.

Facilities

  • Parking: There is offers free car parking to all visitors. There is a disabled parking area at the closest point to the Museum and motorbike and bicycle parking is available. Accessible during open hours only.
  • Food & Drinks: The Cafe, which is only open after entry to the Museum, offers a comprehensive selection of hot and cold meals. A private buffet can also be arranged for visiting groups when the Museum is open.
  • Dogs: Dogs are not permitted in the Museum, excepting assistance dogs as supervised. However we do provide sheltered kennels. A padlock is available from the Shop for a £5 returnable deposit. Water and a dog bed are also available.
