The Funky Teapot in Wantage is a friendly “paint your own” pottery studio where visitors of all ages can create their own unique artwork. With no studio fee, you’re free to enjoy painting and decorating pottery pieces while receiving as much or as little help as you’d like. It’s a welcoming space where creativity and fun go hand in hand.
The studio offers hundreds of pottery shapes and sizes to choose from, and you can decorate using brushes, sponges, stamps, stickers, or even fingers and toes. Finished pieces are fired and ready for collection in 7–10 days, making each visit a chance to take home a lasting keepsake. The team also provides guidance and demonstrations to help you get the best results.
Prices start from £6.50 for pocket-money items, with mugs and plates from £10 and tiles from £8.50. Party packages range from £10–£25 per head depending on the type, with options including free-painting, guided sessions, premium projects, and bespoke designs.

First you choose your items to paint. We have 100s of shapes and sizes to choose from. Just add paint and imagination. This is the fun part. Using brushes, sponges, fingers...(even toes!!) stamps, stickers, and of course imagination.... create your item, from simple spots & dots to detailed or abstract images. We can help as much or a little as you wish. We will show demonstrate how to get the best results, and up to a point guide you to the best way to do this. It is your work, so as happy we are to help, we also will leave you to enjoy creating on your own. Return 7-10 days later to collect your finished master piece. Before leaving it is a good idea to take a photo of your work, so you can compare before and after ( it also helps identify your items on collection as colours can look very different after firing) we then add our unseen magic to your items and fire them.
