Whether you are an existing member of the Society, an enthusiast for mechanical transport and engineering, a member of the public looking for information on the next running day for the railways, or even if you just came upon the site by accident, BMES hopes that you will find your visit interesting.
Introducing Bedford MES: Bedford MES is a group of like-minded people who are interested in engineering in miniature, from transport by road, rail, air and sea, as well as tools and machinery – in fact anything that falls within the broad boundaries of engineering.
The Society’s base is at the Summerfields’ Miniature Railways system, which is located approximately half-way between Hitchin in Hertfordshire and Bedford. The railways (there are three track systems at the Summerfields’ site) are a popular visitor destination for children and parents alike. Please check the Events Calendar to learn when public running days are scheduled.
You should be able to navigate this site without difficulty and find all of the information that you need. Who knows, you may even learn something from your exploration today.

Facilities

Parking: Free off-road parking is available. The Summerfields' site includes a large field, which is used for parking by the public and society members on public running days.

We look forward to welcoming you to our railways once again.
The Summerfield Line will take you between Haynes End Station and Hammer Hill Station.
At Hammer Hill you will have the option of taking a ride on two more of our railways - The Springfield Line from platform 2 and The Winterfield Line from platform 3 - tickets for both are sold at Hammer Hill.
The picnic area at Hammer Hill will also be open for you to use, from where you will be able to watch the Garden Line in operation.
At Haynes End the Station Buffet will be open for refreshments and picnic tables are available for your use on the grass outside.
Steam engines will also be in action as often as we are able.
Trains depart Haynes End between 10:30 and 15:45 (approx.), we close at 16:00.
