What to see

3-6 YEAR OLDS – PONY PARK LESSONS: Pony Park Lessons are the perfect way to introduce your child to horse riding. A Pony Park Lesson is a 30-minute Lead-Rein lesson on special pony tracks in leafy Richmond Park on the edge of London.

LUNGE LESSONS FOR CHILDREN: Horse riders of all levels can benefit from Lunge Lessons, but for the beginner it is the natural progression from a Pony Park Lesson or one of the popular 30-minute one-to-one Ride & Lead LessonsLunge Lessons help to improve posture, balance, rhythm and will highlight problem areas and points of weakness.

PRIVATE LESSONS FOR CHILDREN: Private lessons are individual 30-minute or 60-minute one-to-one lessons that take place in one of our seven on-site arenas at Stag Lodge 2 or in Richmond Park. Private Lessons are great for those wishing to build upon their riding skills or to progress towards a personal goal.

GROUP LESSONS FOR CHILDREN: Weekly one-hour Group Lessons, which take place all year round in one of the seven arenas at Stag Lodge 2, are taught by some of the most experienced Instructors. Group Lessons are aimed at our most confident young riders with the ambition to build their skills and ability by working through our Stag Lodge Stables Levels. Riders cover everything from balance, transitions and pole-work, through to jumping and dressage, as they progress through the levels.

PONY WEEK COURSES: Children are split into small groups according to age, friendship groups and riding ability. Each day includes two rides, as well as stable management lessons such as grooming and mucking out. Friday of every week is competition day, with themed competitions in the morning and afternoon. Every child leaves with a rosette as a reminder of their wonderful week with the ponies.

PONY CLUB: In order to join in with The Pony Club activities at Stag Lodge Stables, you have to become a member of The Pony Club.To become a member you can download the form using the link below, or click here. Membership is available to children until the end of The Pony Club Year or the Centre Membership Subscription Year. Once you are a member of The Pony Club, both riders and non-riders can take part in a range of activities which help you learn to ride and care for horses. Each session, primarily focussed on Stable Management and Equine Care, is carefully structured around learning in a fun manner so that every week you build on your knowledge and experience.

LIVERY SERVICES: Stag Lodge Stables is offering horse owners a 5-star, seven-day full or part livery service in our brand new, separate livery stable block situated at Stag Lodge 2. With space for 18 horses, grass turnout, use of arenas and a horsewalker, not to mention Richmond Park only a five-minute horsebox ride away, we believe there is no better home for your horse.

RIDE & LEAD LESSONS FOR ADULTS: A Private Ride & Lead lesson (also known as a Lead-Rein) is perfect for adult beginners or novices. This one-hour session runs from Stag Lodge Stables on the Robin Hood corner of Richmond Park, and is a great way to be introduced to horse riding, with absolutely no commitment. Your horse will be led and controlled by the instructor (who is also on horseback) attached to a lead rein as you wander the designated horse tracks of the Park.
