0.02 miles
St Colman’s Cathedral is one of Cobh’s most iconic landmarks, beautifully overlooking Cork Harbour and the Atlantic Ocean. Built in 1911, this neo-Gothic cathedral has been part of the Cobh skyline for over a century. It continues to welcome visitors for daily Mass, tours, and special recitals.
The cathedral features stunning neo-Gothic architectural details including intricate roof designs, stained glass windows, and wood carvings. It has a 100m-high spire and a tower with a 49-bell carillon, one of the largest in Europe, which can be heard on Sundays and special occasions. Visitors can also take photos of the cathedral behind Cobh’s famous colourful houses and enjoy its scenic coastal setting.
Entry is Free. Tours are available by contacting the parish office, and a parish shop located behind the Cathedral offers Mass cards and a small selection of items.
With its impressive architecture, historic importance, and breathtaking views, St Colman’s Cathedral is a must-visit in Cobh. Whether attending Mass, listening to the carillon, or simply admiring the building, visitors can enjoy a peaceful and memorable experience.
