  • The Trains: Admire three restored pier carriages, climb aboard the 1949 train's Car 22 to watch the video, and try the 1986 train's new Drivers Experience.
  • Slots and Viewers: Play the 1950s penny slot machines using real old pennies provided and look through the restored mutoscopes.
  • The Signal Box: See one of the original signal boxes used to control the trains in the days when four trains operated on the Pier and operate the levers to control a simulated movement of trains.

Parking: There are a number of council run car parks along the seafront and in the town centre, with bays for disabled parking.

  • The Films: Watch the film “A Long Story” from the DVD available at the kiosk, watch the video story of the Pier trains while sitting on one of the carriages, and watch the film about the 1665 wreck of the ship The London.
  • The Exhibits: Follow the Museum timeline displaying the History of the Pier, view scale models of boats and buildings, and find out about entertainment through the ages.
  • The Sales Kiosk: The Sales Kiosk offers a range of small souvenirs, an extensive collection of local history books, and a variety of postcards, posters, and DVDs all related to the Pier and the seaside.

  • By Rail: The museum is about 10 minutes walk from Southend Central station. There are regular C2C trains to Southend on Sea from  Fenchurch Street station in London and to Southend Victoria station on the Greater Anglia line.
  • By Car: Southend Pier is at the heart of Southend seafront. Cars may drop passengers off at the drop off point at the West entrance to Southend Pier, next to Adventure Island.
  • Parking: There are a number of council run car parks along the seafront and in the town centre, with bays for disabled parking.
