Pooley Country Park is a scenic 62.5-hectare park set along the Coventry Canal, offering a mix of woodland, wildlife and open spaces. Part of the park is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest, making it a great spot for nature lovers. It provides a peaceful outdoor setting ideal for families, walkers and cyclists.

Visitors can enjoy walking and cycling trails, explore woodland habitats, and follow the poetry trail while discovering the park’s history linked to former mining routes. The park also features a large woodland play area, several pools formed by mining subsidence, picnic areas and facilities like the Pit Stop Coffee Shop with a soft play area upstairs. Additional amenities include parking, toilets with baby changing and accessible facilities, and relaxing spots along the canal and main paths. 

Entry to the park is free, while car parking charges apply at £1.50 for up to 1 hour, £2.50 for up to 2 hours and £3.50 for a full day. 

Pooley Country Park offers a perfect blend of nature, relaxation and family-friendly activities. With its walking trails, play areas and peaceful canal-side views, it is ideal for a day outdoors. It is a great destination for enjoying fresh air, wildlife and a calm countryside experience.

Features

  • There are so many things to see and do at Pooley Country Park. The 62.5 hectare site, one third of which is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest, contains several pools caused by mining subsidence, woodland habitats and is situated on the Coventry Canal.
  • Take a stroll along the footpath used by miners as long ago as 1846 during the course of your relaxing and enjoyable visit. A large play area surrounded by woodland is located near the main car park at Pooley Country Park.
  • Spend time walking, cycling, or following the poetry trail (Poetry Trail leaflets can be collected for free from Polesworth Library).

Facilities

  • Parking: Parking available. 
  • Food & Drinks: The Pit Stop Coffee Shop is open from 10am to 4pm Wednesday to Friday and 9am to 4pm Saturday and Sunday. It serves a delicious choice of hot and cold drinks, light bites to eat, and ice creams. A soft play area is available upstairs (booking advised). 
  • Picnic: There are picnic benches located outside Pit Stop Coffee Shop, as well as some commemorative benches spread across the park along the main walking routes. 
  • Toilets: Toilets open during park opening hours only. Baby change and disabled facilities available.
