  • Velodrome Track: Whether you're a seasoned track cyclist or new to track cycling, you’re assured of a great experience with us. From taster sessions for beginners to intense training programmes for elite athletes, our Velodrome Track caters to all ages and abilities. We’re home to British Cycling and our iconic Velodrome track has nurtured numerous world-class cyclists. We’ve seen records shattered and dreams come to life. The smooth, wooden surface and precisely banked turns create the perfect stage for cyclists to reach incredible speeds and achieve their personal bests.
  • BMX Arena: Our indoor BMX track first opened in August 2011 and is suited to everybody - for riders new to the sport, experienced and world class BMX athletes. The amateur BMX track is international standard, with a five metre start hill that runs into a range of jump configurations. The elite track begins with the only eight metre electric start hill in the World which leads into a technically diverse layout.

Facilities

  • Parking: There is no spectator parking at the NCC during major events. Parking can be extremely limited in other car parks on the Etihad Campus due to events taking place including at the Etihad Stadium and the Co-Op Live Arena so please allow extra travel time should you need it. Please walk, wheel, cycle and use public transport where possible.

Travelling by Public Transport:

  • FROM MANCHESTER CITY CENTRE: Piccadilly Gardens (Stop D) Service number 216 to Sportcity - journey time 10 minutes. Service numbers 230 and 231 also pass Sportcity/Etihad Campus.  Alight at the Visitors Centre , and cross Alan Turing Way, to pass through the ASDA Eastlands car park, and cross the Velopark canal bridge. You will see the entrance to National Cycling Centre on your right, after crossing the bridge. If you are attending a major event, then you need to go to the main spectator entrance, which is just past the service road to car park 10.
  • FROM ASHTON UNDER LYNE: From Ashton-under-Lyne Interchange - Service number 216 to Sportcity - journey time 24 minutes. Alight by City Football Academy, and cross Ashton New Road, to access the National Cycling Centre via the Velopark canal bridge. You will see the entrance to the National Cycling Centre in front of you, after crossing the bridge.
  • METROLINK: The Metrolink stops at Etihad Campus and at our own Metrolink Station - Velopark for National Cycling Centre. Trams to and from Velopark are every 12 minutes, or every 15 minutes after 1700 on Sundays. 

Travelling by Cycle:

  • The Ashton Canal provides a traffic-free route for cyclists from Manchester City Centre and Ashton to the Velopark. We have covered bike sheds close to reception for visitors, but you need to bring your own high security lock. If you are just visiting the centre, bikes can be parked for short periods in our lobby area, but still needs locking securely. 
  • Our footbridge crosses the Ashton canal, which is National Route 60, so there are a number of off road routes you can use, some of them only suitable in daylight hours.
