Welcome to the Model Town at Wimborne Minster, Explore our Vintage Miniature World. Walk around 1950’s Wimborne in 1/10th scale. Fun for all ages set in delightful gardens, with a tearoom, shop and many indoor & outdoor attractions.

Like Gulliver, you can wander the 1950s streets of Wimborne.  Peer down into the Butchers, the Ironmongers, the Bakery and the Fishmongers. Let the shop window displays show how much everyday life has changed in the last 70 years.

Price starts from £12.00 for Adults(18 years and over), £7.00 for Children(3-17 & under 3s free) and £29.00 for Family(1 Adults and up to 2 children).   • Garden: Our beautiful, mature and manicured gardens set out in the late 1980s, the gardens which surround the Model Town have over the years given much pleasure to visitors. Our gardens are our pride and joy and they are lovingly attended by a dedicated teams of volunteers all year round. Including herbaceious borders, a vegetable garden, rockery, miniature river system, shrubs and trees, they are tended by an enthusiastic group of volunteers. The Sensory Garden area includes grasses, wind and water features and a seasonally fragrant and colourful border.  There is plenty of seating to enjoy the view.
  • Gallery: They say that a picture paints a thousand words and here is where we share our world, in images, with you. Enjoy!
  • Events: You can also take a look at what events took place in 2025. What a fantastic season we had!

Attraction:

  • The Model Railway: Engine drivers of all ages will enjoy our 00 gauge model railway diorama. Built and developed by our team of dedicated volunteers, the multi track layout runs with motion sensor controls and features main line, branch line and Underground line running.  The layout has a night time lighting sequence.  With an ever changing line up of motive  power and stock, Thomas is on duty most days. Look out too for the cliff railway, cable car and the Milkshake Train line.
  • The Beryl Dade Dolls' Houses: The Beryl Dade Dolls' Houses are now located in our Lady Hanham Building.  Beryl collected and refurbished dolls' houses for very many years providing each with illumination, new decoration, fixtures and fittings and characters. She has developed a theme and a storyline for each miniature dwelling from teddy bears, to tea shops, restaurants and shops. Thanks to her generosity the little homes can now be enjoyed by the thousands of visitors to Wimborne Model Town.
  • 1950s School & Shop: Also located in our Lady Hanham Building, it's back to the classroom of over 70 years ago with desks, blackboard and books.  You can also find out what you could buy in 1950’s Wimborne shops and remember old money and weighing goods in lbs and ons! 
  • Crazy Golf: Test your skills on our Crazy Golf course in the Bumble Bee Garden. Become a Champion, it's great fun and after you have totted up your scores on the official scorecard provided, you can enjoy our kitchen garden and its vibrant and colourful borders.
  • Model of the Model Town: Built in celebration of our 70th Anniversary in 2022, our volunteers have been hard at work, restoring and repainting the popular 1/00th scale mini models of the Model Town, produced by Cobnut3D. 
  • The Wareham Bears: The Wareham Bears can now come out to play and can be found in our Lady Hanham Building. The bears were originally displayed by Mary Hildesley in Wareham during the 1980s. More recently they spent some  happy times at The Blue Pool but have now found a permanent home with us at Model Town. Set in delightful dioramas, our new furry friends can be seen: Relaxing at Home, Playing Rugby, Making Beer, Shopping  and many other bearful activities.

  • By Car: If you are coming by car, there is parking opposite in Kings Street Pay & Display car park .
  • By Bus: From Poole bus station there is a bus service approximately every 15 minutes to Wimborne Minster (More Bus, route 3 & 4). The journey time is approximately 30 minutes.  Alight at Wimborne Square, from where there the Model Town is a few minutes signposted walk.
  • Parking: There is parking opposite in Kings Street Pay & Display car park.
