Features

Only a short distance from Grimsby, the seaside resort of Cleethorpes and the historic market town of Louth, Lincolnshire Wolds Railway is a great day out for everyone. Ride on the train, enjoy some great food in the café and make some new amazing memories as you visit us.

  • The Museum: The railway at Ludborough, which was part of the East Lincolnshire route running from Boston to Grimsby, is steeped in history. The collection of artefacts contributes to our understanding of the development of the railways in this region. There’s an array of cast iron notices, railway lamps, tickets, uniform buttons, advertising signs, name boards which used to be seen on station platforms and paper ephemera, all from an era that is now just a distant memory.
  • ‘Behind the Scenes’ TOURS: On selected days throughout the year, we invite you on one of our new guided ‘Behind the Scenes’ Tours. See where we carry out the maintenance and restoration work on our carriages & locomotive fleet, hear about our stock and the past working life of our locomotives and have access to two areas not usually accessible to the public. We are proud to be one of the few heritage railways that allows visitors a look behind the scenes, so join us and enjoy a day out at the Lincolnshire Wolds Railway.
  • Ludborough Station Clue Trail: During your visit to the Lincolnshire Wolds Railway, don’t forget to take time to complete our Ludborough Station Clue Trail. It’s just a little bit of fun but it takes you around the site giving you a chance to be a railway detective. Look out for the poster which marks the start of the trail outside our covered seating area by the gift shop on the main station. Use the clues to find your next marker and carry on around until you find all the clues.
