Holywells Park is a beautiful 28-hectare green space in Ipswich, offering a mix of natural beauty, history and family-friendly activities. With roots dating back to medieval times, it is now a well-loved community park featuring scenic ponds, mature trees and historic features. It’s a perfect place for relaxation, outdoor play and exploring nature. 

Visitors can enjoy a wide range of attractions including the imaginative “Imagination Island” children’s play area with themed equipment, a teen zone with outdoor gym and games, and a seasonal splash pad for younger children. The park also features walking trails, a walled garden with a maze and open-air theatre space, a Victorian conservatory, bowling green and storytelling areas, along with plenty of space for picnics and leisure. 

Entry to Holywells Park is completely free, making it an excellent value day out for families and visitors. 

With its blend of history, nature and play facilities, Holywells Park offers something for everyone. Whether you’re exploring the trails, enjoying the playground or relaxing by the ponds, it’s a charming and enjoyable outdoor destination in Ipswich.

Features

Holywells is a beautiful open space, with stunning trees and ponds, but also a green hub for the community. There is something for people of all ages to enjoy. The park extends over 28 hectares of picturesque grounds, with a history dating back to medieval times. 

  • Children’s Play Area: The play area named Imagination Island has been designed to create a connection with water in the park. The park sees a variety of exciting play equipment including Croc Creek bridge, where you can cross the wetpour water whilst avoiding the 3D crocodile, ride on dolphin and shark springers, or you can even jump on the DiGBY the octopus seesaw.
  • Splash Pad: The summer season for the Splash Pad has now come to an end and it is closed from Monday 8 September onwards, re-opening in May 2026 to be enjoyed again by children aged up to 8 years old.  During summer months (late May to early September) it opens seven days a week (11am - 5pm).
