Collections:

  • The Museum Collection: The collection tells the story of Harrow and its people, past and present. We care for thousands of objects that reflect everyday life, work, faith, creativity and change across the borough. Our collections span archaeology, social history, clothing and textiles, photographs, and art, alongside objects linked to local industry, education and community life. From finds that reveal early settlement to material connected to Harrow’s rural past, suburban growth and diverse communities, the collection traces how the area has evolved over time.
  • The Harrow Archive: The Harrow Archive (previously known as the Local History Collection) has existed in some form since 1948 when Wealdstone Library opened. This important collection was then given a more permanent home in the reference section of Gayton Library in 1968 after the first Local History Librarian was appointed, and was later moved to the Civic Centre Library when it opened in 1972. It moved to its current home at Headstone Manor & Museum after the Civic Centre Library closed in October 2013.
