Edinburgh Zoo is home to over 2,500 amazing animals and is one of Scotland’s top wildlife attractions. Located in the heart of Edinburgh, it offers an exciting mix of animal experiences, education, and conservation. It’s the perfect destination for families, nature lovers, and curious minds of all ages.

Visitors can enjoy animal encounters, explore beautiful gardens, and join daily talks with expert rangers. Children can play in dedicated play areas, while adults can enjoy VIP animal experiences or build their own Wild Experience. Seasonal events, keeper moments, and live webcams offer something new each time you visit.

Ticket prices are £27.50 for adults, £17.50 for children (ages 3–15), and £24.50 for concessions. Children under 3 enter for free.

With scenic picnic spots, gift shops, cafés, and special birthday party packages, the zoo has everything for a full-day adventure. It’s not just a zoo—it’s an unforgettable journey into wildlife and conservation that’s both fun and meaningful .

Facilities

  • Food & Drinks: Edinburgh Zoo has two restaurants, one café and several kiosks offering a wide range of hot and cold food, snacks and drinks. Whatever you fancy, there’s something to suit all tastes!  
  • Parking: Parking spaces are limited and available on a first come, first served basis. Parking is £4 for visitors and free for RZSS members. 
  • Picnic areas: The two main picnic areas are located at the hilltop and around the main lawn in front of the mansion house.
  • Charging points:They have two electric car charging points in dedicated parking bays.
  • Lockers: They have small number of lockers available for hire each day on a first come first serve basis in our main entrance. A fee applies for the locker rental, please ask on arrival for pricing and availability.
  • Gift shop: Visit to the gift shop where you will find a wide variety of wild animal themed gifts.

Available at 11am and 1pm. Minimum requirement is 10 children, and the maximum number of attendees is 30 including accompanying adults.

By Train: There are two trains stations in the centre of Edinburgh; Edinburgh Waverley Station and Edinburgh Haymarket Station.
By Bike: The zoo is very close to Carrick Knowe cycle route (access from Downie Grove), which in turn connects by minor roads and other cycle routes to most of the city.
