Brickfields Country Park is a small and peaceful country park located in Aldershot, Hampshire, covering less than 8 acres. It was opened in 1985 after being reclaimed from a derelict Victorian brickworks site. Today, it is a quiet natural space known mainly to local residents and offers a calm escape into nature.

Visitors can explore the park’s natural environment which is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including 658 recorded species and 22 Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP) species. The park is maintained by The Friends of Brickfields Country Park along with Rushmoor Borough Council, with ongoing conservation work such as habitat management, path building and environmental care.

The park is open 24 hours daily, year-round, and entry is completely free.

  • Situated off Boxalls Lane, in Aldershot, Hampshire, is probably one of the British Isles smallest and least known country parks, (unless you know of one under 8 acres !). Brickfields Country Park is a peaceful, natural park, known only by local residents and a few in the know - and now you !.
  • Opened in 1985 following two years of extensive work by Rushmoor Borough Council and the Manpower Services Commission, Brickfields Country Park was reclaimed from the remains of a derelict Victorian brickworks whose clay diggings had been used as an unofficial rubbish tip.
  • Of the current total of 658 species that have been found in Brickfields Country Park, 22 are Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP) species (2 plants, 4 birds, 1 animal and 15 invertebrates).
  • We also have a possible four more Biodiversity Action Plan species that we are still researching before adding to our lists. There are a further 25 species that are unidentified in four groups. 
  • Operated by The Friends of Brickfields Country Park in conjunction with Rushmoor Borough Council, The Friends were formed in 1992 by a group of local residents wanting to become involved the furtherance of a local amenity.
  • The group operates under license from Rushmoor Borough Council as part of the Parks Department, performing varied conservation tasks from rubbish clearing to building new paths.
  • We are associated to Blackwater Valley Countryside Partnership which links us to other conservation groups nation-wide for training, and advice.

  • From the Farnham "Six Bells" roundabout: From the "Six Bells" Roundabout (A on the map) on the A325 at Farnham, take the B3007 exit to Weybourne. After about 1/2 a mile (800M) cross a set of traffic lights and continue for a further ½ mile passing All Hallows school on your right just after the lights. Continue on and round several slight bends, passing the "Duke of York" public house on your left, then at a mini roundabout on a sharp left corner carefully turn right into Boxalls Lane under the railway bridge that is facing you. Park in the signposted "Brickfields" car park on your left opposite the convenience store, approximately 400m (440yd) from the bridge.
  • From the A325 Farnborough Road: Travel along the A325 towards Aldershot. At the mini roundabout (B on the map) turn left into Cranmore Lane and continue downhill to a crossroads at the bottom. Turn right into Ayling Hill, continue uphill bearing left into Church Lane West, then further uphill for another ½ mile (800M) passing through a narrow one way width restriction.  At the mini roundabout turn right onto Eggars Hill and at the bottom at another mini roundabout on a sharp right hand corner, turn left under the railway bridge into Boxalls Lane. Park in the signposted "Brickfields" car park on your left opposite the convenience store, approximately 400m (440yd) from the bridge.
  • From the A331 - Blackwater Valley Relief road: Take the exit off the A331 (C on the map) marked "Aldershot" / "Aldershot Military Town South" onto a roundabout above the A331. Take the A323 dual carriageway exit (3rd exit left from Farnborough or 1st exit left from Farnham), towards Aldershot Town centre keeping in the left hand lane. At the traffic lights filter left onto the B3208 Lower Farnham Road. Continue uphill past the "Co-Op" store on your right (this was was the Heron public house), and after a further 300 yards (275M) downhill at a mini roundabout turn right into Boxalls Lane, at this roundabout there is a small parade of shops facing you. Continue for about 1/2 a mile. At a set of slight "S" bends, park in the signposted "Brickfields" car park on your right opposite the convenience store.
